Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press the R key to repair Windows XP. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup. As I am unable to boot from my XP disc ( just won't do it), I am booting from a win 98 floppy With CD support.

Kickstart install - I'm completely lost!
WinXP installs without mentioning any problems, but after reboot it just gives me a BSOD - I didn't note the error number as I was annoyed and fed up by then! An update: I've blanked the CF card a few times and tried a few things: A normal 6.2 DOS install and that boots OK. Ubuntu won't boot at all from the CF card

I've left the install DVD mounted. I wish to install RHEL ES 4 from the other "server2". Emachine M2350 won't boot Windows
I installed according to the installation instructions in "The Complete FreeBSD by Greg Lehey" 3rd edition. The install seemed to go fine. Well, you didn't tell us anything important. First of all how much space on the 40GB drive is partitioned for W2K. FreeBSD 3.4 won't boot if your root partiton is past 8.4GB

Won't boot...corrupt file
Actually, I just realized you are probably talking about Vista x64 and that won't install from an XP desktop. Sorry about that. If you set the XP drive as the boot drive and then boot the system with the Vista dvd you will get variation of the drive lettering (no real problem) and will have the boot menu after

A7V333 Windows Installation Problem
Do not set the configuration to AHCI unless you are prepared to insert a driver into an XP install or are installing Vista, where AHCI has native support. AHCI enables NCQ. Under Boot I don't see why not though. If the system will boot from a CD/DVD connected to the PATA interface, an HD should be no different.

However, with scan disk complete, it would finally boot from the RAID without needing the floppy. Backed up my data to a DVD right away! Now the USB is not working, but I think that's just a BIOS setting I have to reset. So I am not sure what file was giving me a problem. And I don't know if I can move the RAID

But I don't have to move on. I don't have to change. I don't have to become inefficient. It's an option. OS 9 is not dead; it is very much alive and running on six of my Macs. I almost found a reason to move to OS X. GarageBand. But in the fine print I discovered that I need a DVD drive to install it.

and it's duplicate (which they succeeded in conning you into buying) and the "System Recovery DVD" won't let you do that. If you only have an optical disk reader, and not a floppy drive, you are going to have a tough time no matter what you do. The only fix MS offers involves downloading 6 floppies and booting from

Once you are in the minority with bad hardware, then failure of OSs to install is quite a common, if not usual, experience. I also don't want Symantec on this one so I'll need alternatives for every thing Systemworks does (I can install Ghost separately without gunking up the system too much I think?). I just want to make sure I get aA/V on ASAP so no virus get in (I doubt they will since I won't be emailing/surfing/etc. at first).
